SJCDA Founders Scholarship

The South Jersey Choral Directors' Association (SJCDA) provides a scholarship to a participating Senior member of the High School Chorus.  This Founders Scholarship honors those members who first envisioned the establishment of this organization and all who have served the Association since it was founded in 1958.  This scholarship is awarded annually to the senior who demonstrates musical excellence and a financial need to pursue musical study at the collegiate level beyond high school graduation.

Eligibility requirements include:

  1. A completed application

  2. A letter of Intent stating qualifications, financial need, personal background, musical interest, and future plans

  3. A letter of recommendation from the students' sponsoring choral director

  4. An official copy of the students School Record & Transcript

  5. A memorized vocal or piano audition before the Scholarship Committee, followed by a Question and Answer Session with the Committee members

Upon receipt of the Scholarship at the Festival Concert, the student is awarded the Certificate of Scholarship and a Letter of Instruction to complete providing proof of successful completion of collegiate level music study within one (1) year of having been awarded the scholarship.  The Financial Award will be made ONLY after the recipient has completed these requirements.
